There will not be an adult 5K Run for the Monarchs in 2011
Kid's Butterfly Fun Run races start at 11:15 AM (these are untimed races) There will be three brackets for age appropriate groups:
   #1)  Ages 0 – 4    11:15 am (strollers welcome)
   #2)  Ages 5 – 8    11:55 am
   #3)  Ages 9 – 11  12:35 pm

Notes:
Registration will close for each race 15 minutes before start time.
Costume judging will begin 5 minutes before start time; costume winners will be informed after their race.
All winners will be announced on stage after each race at the following times:
   #1)  Ages 0 – 4     11:30 am
   #2)  Ages 5 – 8     12:10 pm
   #3)  Ages 9 – 11   12:50 pm

Nokomis Naturescape Gardens at Lake Nokomis Park, Minneapolis, Minnesota
The Nokomis Naturescape Gardens are at the intersection of East 50th Street and East Nokomis Parkway. (map). The races are held behind the stage, near the lake.

Race Day Registration

May register any time after 10am up to 15 minutes before race time.
Cost:   $ 7.00    Official T-shirt included (subject to availability on a "first-come, first-served" basis.) 

Description

Strollers are welcome at the family friendly Kid's Butterfly Fun Run!  These short races are untimed. Participants will receive an official Butterfly Fun Run T-shirt.

Race day registration opens at 10 a.m. Please pick up your packet and register at least 15 minutes before your event.

Parents and relatives are encouraged to cheer and take pictures from the sidelines or behind the finish line, which is near the start. For fairness and child safety, we ask that strollers stay near the back of the pack.

Prizes:

Participants will compete for one of five Framed Award and Prize Bags in each age group as listed below:
   -  Best Monarch wings
   -  Best antennae
   -  Best caterpillar look
   -  1st over the Finish Line
   -  2nd over the Finish Line

Sponsorship and Proceeds

The Kid’s Butterfly Fun Run is sponsored by U Care and Univision Minnesota. Their generous support allows us to reduce the pre-registration fee from a minimum $15 to an affordable $5 (or $7 on race day.)

Any excess proceeds benefit Monarch butterfly habitat in the Minneapolis Parks and the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve located in the state of Michoacan, Mexico.
