Kid's Butterfly Fun Run races start at 11:15 AM (these are untimed races) There will be separate runs for three age brackets:    

Race #1)   Ages 0 – 4    11:15 am (strollers welcome)
                Prizes for 1st place finish, best monarch wings, best overall monarch costume
  
Race #2)    Ages 5 – 8    11:30 am
                 Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place finish and best monarch costume

Race #3)   Ages 9 – 11  12:15 pm
                Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place finish

Notes :
Registration will close for each race 15 minutes before start time.
Costume judging will begin 5 minutes before start time; costume winners will be informed after their race.

Prizes:
Costume judging will begin 5 minutes before start time; Participants will compete for Framed Awards and/or Prize Bags. Costume winners will be informed after their race.
All winners will be announced on stage after each race at the following times:
   Race #1)  Ages 0 – 4     11:50 am
   Race #2)  Ages 5 – 8     11:50 am
  Race  #3)  Ages 9 – 11   12:45 pm

Nokomis Naturescape Gardens at Lake Nokomis Park, Minneapolis, Minnesota
The Nokomis Naturescape Gardens are at the intersection of East 50th Street and East Nokomis Parkway. (map). The races are held behind the stage, near the lake.

Cost

 $ 7.00 per entrant.  Price includes official youth-sized Butterfly Fun Run T-shirt (subject to availability on a "first-come, first-served" basis.) Checks or cash only - sorry, no plastic. Make checks out to "NENA"

Registration opens at 10 a.m. Please pick up your packet and complete the registration at least 15 minutes before your scheduled event.

Description

Strollers are welcome at the family-friendly Kid's Butterfly Fun Run!  For fairness and child safety, we ask that strollers stay near the back of the pack.

These short races are untimed. Participants will receive an official Butterfly Fun Run T-shirt.

Parents and relatives are encouraged to cheer and take pictures from the sidelines or behind the finish line, which is near the start.

Sponsorship and Proceeds

The Kid’s Butterfly Fun Run is sponsored by Univision Minnesota and U Care. Their generous support allows us to keep the registration fee low, and still contribute Fun Run proceeds to monarch habitat preservation.

Proceeds from the Kids Butterfly Fun Run will benefit the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve located in the state of Michoacan, Mexico.
